Helping Hands: employees creating lasting impact

Helping Hands is Staatsolie’s employee volunteer program that brings colleagues together to make a meaningful difference in communities across Suriname. By combining teamwork, practical skills and a shared commitment to social development, employees help improve schools, social institutions and community facilities where support is needed most.

Helping Hands was created to give Staatsolie employees the opportunity to contribute directly to community development through volunteerism. The program connects employees with projects that address real needs within communities, creating positive and lasting change while strengthening the spirit of social responsibility and collaboration.

Through Helping Hands, employees work together to identify opportunities where they can make a difference. Teams volunteer their time, skills and expertise to carry out projects that benefit schools, non-profit organizations and other community institutions. Staatsolie supports these initiatives by providing the resources needed to bring approved projects to life.

Projects align with Staatsolie’s Corporate Social Investment focus areas, including education, health, sports, environmental awareness, arts and culture, capacity building, and support for vulnerable groups. Preference is given to initiatives that create sustainable benefits and contribute to the well-being of communities, particularly in areas where Staatsolie operates.

Over the years, employee teams have helped renovate playgrounds, upgrade school facilities, improve learning environments, refresh community spaces and enhance recreational areas for children and families. These projects provide practical solutions to community needs while creating safer, more welcoming and functional spaces for those who use them every day.

Helping Hands reflects the belief that lasting impact is achieved through collective action. By working side by side with a shared purpose, Staatsolie employees help build stronger communities and contribute to a better future for the people they serve.
