Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. (Staatsolie) plans to carry out a 3D seismic survey in the south-central part of the Surinamese Shallow Offshore area, off the coast of Saramacca and Coronie.

Staatsolie announced today that Chevron Suriname Exploration Limited is expected to begin drilling the Korikori-1 exploration well this month. The well is located approximately 78 kilometers offshore, in the north-central part of Block 5 at a water depth of around forty meters. Block 5 is operated by Chevron (40%) in partnership with Paradise Oil Company (POC) (40%) and Qatar Energy (20%).

Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. reported a revenue of US$ 735 million for the fiscal year 2024. US$ 384 million was contributed to the state treasury, marking the third consecutive fiscal year with contributions exceeding US$ 300 million. The Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) approved the financial statements for 2024 on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

TotalEnergies plans to begin drilling the Macaw-1 exploration well in Block 64, located offshore Suriname, by mid-May 2025. Macaw-1 is the first of five offshore exploration wells scheduled for drilling this year. If successful, the exploration drilling program could potentially lead to new oil and gas plays in the Suriname-Guyana over the long term.
